Sharing Web Resources WK6

* I honestly couldn't find any links on the Zero To Three website that led anywhere outside the realm of their site. The closest attempt I found was under the "Find Resources and Services" tab where you can click on "State Based Resources". From there I chose Oregon and found many articles pertaining specifically to my state. There was one article titled "Oregon State Baby Facts" where a graph showed percentages of child-related facts comparing state to national. For example, I learned that 34% of children entering foster care in OR are under 3, compared to 31% nationwide. Interesting!

Following another link, I learned about the Oregon Center for Career  Development in Childhood Care and Education (OCCD). They're in charge of professional credentials in this state. The OCCD approves a professionals knowledge, skills and achievements in order to uphold the quality of care and services for kids and families in our state. Again, interesting!

* The one area of the site I chose to thoroughly research was actually under their "About Us" section titled "Our Work". I did this in order to truly get a rich and full gaze at who exactly they are and what they do. What I found is a clear look at their mission- Since 1977 they've worked to spread the word about the vital importance of relationships and connection to the healthy growth of a human brain. They use the latest in neuroscience research to make their cases. They seek to provide resources and outreach to parents, professionals, and policy makers.

I actually dug deep enough to find their "Zero To Three Logic Model" which I hadn't seen before. It so clearly and succinctly illustrated how directly their work contributes to improving the lives of infants and toddlers. Here's a look.

Furthermore, they had a full list of all their projects.

* There's one article in particular that stood out to me on their site related to equity and excellence within the field. It's titled "Creating Equity and Opportunity Through Early Learning Policies" by Patricia Cole. It speaks in great length about the need for policies to include more equity and transparency. For example, programs should be mandated to make available the information for parents about their diversity of settings, quality of individual providers, and the requirements for licensing and background checks. They also call for the policy to mandate the programs to provide screening information to the parents.
